My name is Linda Makin, I have been the Cambria Township Tax Collector for the past 9 years.

As the  Cambria Township Tax Collector I am  responsible for collecting taxes for Cambria Township, Central Cambria School District & for Cambria County.

Township and County Taxes are mailed March 1 of each year with the discount ending on April 30th of that year.  The penalty period is November 1 to December 31 of  that same year.

School taxes are mailed July 1 of each year with the discount ending August 31st  of that year.  The penalty period is November 1 to December 31 of that same year.

By January 10 of the following year, all delinquent bills are turned over to the Cambria County Tax Claims Office in the Cambria County Court House @ (814) 472-1445.

I am also responsible for collecting the Emergency Municipal Services Tax (EMS).  Any person, over age 18 and who has  gross earnings of $2,000.00 or more,  must pay this tax.  This includes both residents and non-residents who are employed or self-employed within Cambria Township.  The Tax Amount is $25.00 per person.  Employers in Cambria Township are required to withhold this tax from an employee’s pay and forward it to me, as tax collector, by August 1 of each year.  The EMS tax replaces the previous $10.00 Occupational Privilege tax.

I also collect the Earned Income Tax (EIT).  This tax is also withheld by the employer for all residents who reside in Cambria Township.  This tax is 1% of the employees wages and is to be paid quarterly to the Tax Collector.

HOMSTEAD/FARMSTEAD: This years school bill shows the Homestead/Farmstead Reduction of $108.47. Everyone in the Central Cambria School District received this amount. If you have not applied for this reduction, the school will be mailing applications out in December. If your property has been approved, no further application will be mailed. The County Assessors office approves or denies the application. If the property is owned by a taxpayer but is in another individuals name, that person is not eligible to receive the reduction.

An approved Homestead/Farmstead is eligible to pay taxes on an installment basis, instead of in one lump sum amount. Those payments are made on the face amount and not on the discount amount.

The Homestead/Farmstead is a result of Act 1. The funding comes from the PA Gaming monies.

Because of the counterfeit money being passed around, I’m sorry to say that I am no longer accepting $100.00 bills in my office. Please continue to use checks or money orders to pay your taxes.

My office is located in my home at the address listed above.  It is handicapped accessible with a very friendly atmosphere.  If you should have any questions at all, I will try to answer them. You may either  call my office or stop by during my office hours.  My office is closed one week in September and one week in October for vacation.  It is also closed on weekends and holidays.  A mail slot is provided for your convenience.
